All You Need to Know About Omnicom (OMC) Rating Upgrade to Buy

OMC

Investors might want to bet on Omnicom (OMC), as it has been recently upgraded to a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy). An upward trend in earnings estimates -- one of the most powerful forces impacting stock prices -- has triggered this rating change. The Zacks Rank stock-rating system, which uses four factors related to earnings estimates to classify stocks into five groups, ranging from Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) to Zacks Rank #5 (Strong Sell), has an impressive externally-audited track record, with Zacks Rank #1 stocks generating an average annual return of +25% since 1988. Irrespective of market conditions, only the top 5% of the Zacks-covered stocks get a 'Strong Buy' rating and the next 15% get a 'Buy' rating. So, the placement of a stock in the top 20% of the Zacks-covered stocks indicates its superior earnings estimate revision feature, making it a solid candidate for producing market-beating returns in the near term.

Omnicom Is Starting to See the Fruits of Its Strategic Direction

OMC

Omnicom Group (NYSE: OMC) released first-quarter 2019 results early Tuesday. Similar to its previous quarterly update in February, the marketing and corporate communications leader saw its modest organic growth masked by the negative impacts of strategic business dispositions and foreign currency exchange. Omnicom doesn't offer quarterly financial guidance. But these results were technically mixed relative to analysts' consensus estimates, which called for lower earnings of $1.09 per share on slightly higher revenue of $3.49 billion. The change in revenue consisted of 2.5% organic revenue growth, a 3.4% foreign exchange headwind, and a 3.6% decrease in acquisition revenue (net of dispositions). Organic revenue declined 3% in Latin America but climbed in every other geography, including growth of 2% in the U.S., 6.1% for other North American markets, 1.3% in the UK, 4% for Euro markets and Other Europe, 2.1% in the Asia-Pacific region, and 12.8% in the Middle East and Africa.

OMC

Omnicom Group Inc. OMC reported solid first-quarter 2019 results wherein the company’s earnings and revenues surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate. 3 Big Stock Charts for Tuesday: Hanesbrands, Omnicom Group and Schlumberger

OMC HBI +1 more OMC HBI SLB

Nokia (NYSE:NOK) lost more ground, though, falling a little more than 5% after Goldman downgraded the tech company on concerns it would struggle to keep up with its competition. At the other end of the spectrum, Bio-Path Holdings (NASDAQ:BPTH) made a huge 33% gain on news that it was not going to go through a secondary offering right now after all. Headed into Tuesday’s trading, the stock charts of Hanesbrands (NYSE:HBI), Omnicom Group (NYSE:OMC) and Schlumberger Limited (NYSE:SLB) are shaping up as your best bets, with budding trends that look like they’re going to take shape with or without the market’s help. Not only did SLB stock lose more ground than the average energy name between 2014 and late last year, oil’s rebound since late last year hasn’t lifted Schlumberger as much as it has lifted other stocks in the same sector.

April 16 (Reuters) - U.S. advertising company Omnicom Group Inc beat Wall Street estimates for quarterly profit on Tuesday, as it benefited from higher client spending worldwide.
