Shortened week to see results from British Land, Britvic and IWG

IWG BVIC +2 more IWG BVIC BLND SCT

Shortened week to see results from British Land, Britvic and IWG. Computing firm Softcat PLC (LON:SCT) is due to issue a trading update on Tuesday. Fellow software firm Kainos Group PLC (LON:KNOS) is also due to deliver an update on Tuesday in the form of its full-year results. As most the company’s revenues are recurring and contracted in advance, investors are likely to expect they have held up despite the recent volatility, particularly with the group providing digital transformation and platform services to the NHS and other parts of the UK government. However, given that IT transitions are unlikely to be a high priority given the current disruption, this reliability could be in doubt and may see growth slow down. Reading across from LandSec, analysts at UBS forecast negative revaluations from the retail portfolio will lead to NAV per share falling 4.5% in the second half of the year to 812p, leading to 10.3% year on year decline. As the virus only impact the last few weeks of the financial year to end-March, the analysts predict only a 4% drop to gross rental revenues to €552mln, leading to adjusted earnings falling 6%.

Vornado: Regus Backing Out Of $66M Project In Which Trump Owns 30% Stake

IWG VNO

Vornado Realty Trust says it has begun legal action against Regus, alleging the coworking giant is trying to back out of a 15-year lease and a $90M guarantee, the New York-based REIT disclosed Monday in a regulatory filing. Vornado signed Regus to a 15-year lease to occupy all of 345 Montgomery St. in San Francisco in 2018, in what was planned to be a 78K SF location for its Spaces coworking brand, following a major redevelopment. Vornado said Regus "purported to terminate the lease prior to space delivery," and "commenced a suit on October 23, 2019 seeking to enforce the lease and guarantee," the company said in its quarterly 10-Q filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission Monday evening. The REIT said $48M of a total projected cost of $50M had been spent in a February SEC filing, but in in the same report in which it disclosed its suit, it pegged a new project cost at $66M. As of Monday night, Spaces still listed "The Cube" as one of its San Francisco locations on its website, but the dedicated page for the space appears to have been removed from the site.

Regus accused of profiteering from small businesses during lockdown

IWG

IWG, which owns the Regus brand, is facing a backlash from customers who say that the workspace provider’s response to the crisis shows a lack of care and is an attempt to “profit off companies that cannot earn money during the crisis”. The world’s largest serviced office operator has been accused of trying to profit from the coronavirus crisis by asking small businesses to sign up to longer leases in exchange for temporary rent cuts or deferrals. Customers have typically been sent letters offering a 50 per cent discount on rent for April and May if they commit themselves to paying rent for an additional three months at the end of their lease. James Vanner, 40, a partner at the law firm Vanner Perez Notaries, which rents workspace in London for eight employees, said: “We are looking to get out of Regus as soon as possible after this is over.”.

Regus spills data of 900 staff on Trello board set to ‘public’

IWG

Another company has ended up accidentally spilling sensitive data from business collaboration tool Trello. It seems the Regus parent company IWG carried out covert video assessments using researchers from a company called Applause posing as clients looking for office space. The evaluations from this were gathered into a spreadsheet which was inadvertently set to ‘public’. Because search engines index public Trello boards that meant that anyone with a browser could, in theory, see the data, which included names, addresses, performance ratings, and company training videos. The data had now been taken down:. As our primary concern we took immediate action and the external provider has now removed the content. Although the newspaper says this didn’t happen until they contacted IWG and Applause.
