Police bust man for selling 1 million Netflix, Spotify passwords

NFLX

Police bust man for selling 1 million Netflix, Spotify passwords. The 21-year-old made more than $200,000 selling stolen account logins. The man was allegedly behind the website WickedGen.com, which boasted that it had 120,000 users and sold Netflix, Spotify and Hulu logins stolen from almost 1 million accounts. Syd man charged over Netflix, Spotify scam

NFLX

March 13, 2019 10:07amA Sydney man has been arrested after allegedly selling stolen subscription details for streaming services including Netflix and Spotify for about $300,000. The account generator operated for about two years, selling details stolen from unknown victims in Australia and abroad - including the United States - for online subscription services such as Netflix, Spotify and Hulu. Investigators allege the account details were obtained through "credential stuffing", in which a list of previously-stolen or leaked usernames, email addresses and corresponding passwords are re-used and sold for unauthorised access. "Police will allege the administrator of WickedGen made an estimated AUD$300,000 selling the stolen account subscriptions through this website, and other similar sites identified through the course of investigations," the AFP said in a statement on Wednesday.

Netflix Is Killing a Ton of Its Own Shows. What's Going On?

NFLX DIS

Netflix Is Killing a Ton of Its Own Shows. What's Going On? Friends From College won't be coming back for a third season, and Netflix also axed two of its popular Marvel original series, Jessica Jones and The Punisher. Netflix's original content helps differentiate the service and gives fans a reason to choose Netflix and its exclusives over competing services like AT&T's (NYSE: T) HBO -- but that's not the main goal here. Though it's expensive to develop content, Netflix will save money in the long run because it will become less reliant on pricey licensed content. Or, at least, that's how it would work if Netflix made its original series entirely on its own. But that's not the case with all of Netflix's series. Some Netflix "originals" are made in cooperation with outside studios. As Netflix's original content strategy matures, the company is looking to keep more and more content production in-house, and it's killing off shows that cost it more, like American Vandal.

Why Recent Weakness In Netflix Stock Isn’t Worth Stressing Over

NFLX

After a red-hot start to the year, shares of Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) have been under pressure over the past few days. Thanks to Netflix’s massive and unchallenged content advantage over peers, Netflix stock is due for big gains over the next five years as the global streaming market grows by leaps and bounds, and Netflix continues to win the lion’s share of those new customers. Disney (NYSE:DIS) including the entire Disney content library in Disney+ is noteworthy, but not a back-breaker for NFLX, since originals are the true attraction of Netflix. And, the Buckingham downgrade is also noteworthy, but downgrades and upgrades happen all the time on Wall Street, so again, it’s not a huge deal. Overall, the headwinds which have weighed on Netflix stock over the past several days aren’t needle movers in the big picture.
