We've taken a look at whether you now have to cover your face when out shopping at the major supermarkets - including Tesco, Aldi, Co-Op, Lidl, Sainsbury's, Asda and M&S. Earlier this month new official advice came out on staying safe outside your home - including telling people to wear face masks in some situations. The BRC's Andrew Opie, said: "Retailers do not require customers to wear face coverings in-store. "Shops can only open if they enforce social distancing measures, which has been the case in thousands of stores who have stayed open.”. While supermarkets have introduced social distancing measures like staggered entry, one-one flow systems and informational signs, there is no guarantee every customer will follow the guidance and always maintain a safe distance from others.
