David Mellors is in advanced talks about replacing Adrian Marsh as the packaging group's CFO, Sky News learns. The finance chief of Cobham, the defence group taken private this month in a contentious £4bn deal, is to make a rapid return to the public markets at DS Smith, the FTSE-100 packaging supplier. Sky News understands that David Mellors is in advanced discussions about becoming the new chief financial officer of DS Smith. If confirmed in the role, he will replace Adrian Marsh, who plans to step down after more than six years in the role. A former finance chief at QinetiQ, the defence and aerospace engineering company, Mr Mellors is said to have wanted to resume working for a large listed - rather than private equity-backed - business.
