Is SpaceX the model for a private Tesla? - All about SpaceX & Tesla

Tesla Inc CEO Elon Musk has held up his closely held space transportation company SpaceX as a model for taking his loss-making electric car company private, saying he wants existing Tesla investors to continue to hold stock. Musk said that taking the company private would shield Tesla from the scrutiny of Wall Street and its demand for positive quarterly results. A Musk trust owns 54 percent of the outstanding stock of SpaceX, and has voting control of 78 percent of the outstanding shares. NASA has selected both private and public companies for space services. For example, it hired Northrop Grumman Corp and SpaceX for cargo resupply missions to the International Space Station, and partnered with Boeing Co and SpaceX as the companies develop rocket-and-capsule vehicles for carrying astronauts to the space station.
